The Cugliotti family have always been famed for their martial prowess, and current patriarch Eduardo Cugliotti is no exception. From a young age he has taken great pride in his prowess in single combat, rising to prominence in his family as a ruthless enforcer feared throughout Corbia by those who would cross the Cugliottis. He was the middle child of five, and as his father approached the end of his days he gathered his family together to divide up his empire. He planned to make Eduardo the new head of the City Guard, while Eduardo's eldest sister would take control of the family. Eduardo challenged his father to a duel and killed him on the spot, then did the same with all four of his siblings, one after the other, until he was left in sole control of the Cugliotti Empire.
Eduardo moved quickly to consolidate his power, eliminating his father's remaining loyalists and installing his own people in their place. Under his rule, the City Guard has grown more violent than ever, regularly accepting bribes to operate as hired muscle for the city's criminals. The Mercenaries Guild has stepped up its recruiting, and Eduardo makes the majority of his fortune renting out small armies for far-off conflicts. And in a rare joint venture, the Cugliotti and Melfi families have collaborated to greatly expand the city's fighting pits and the underground slave trade that fuels them. Eduardo himself takes a direct role in the day-to-day running of the family's business, at times even taking to the streets to fill his old role as an enforcer again. He wields the traditional weapon of the Cugliotti family, The Theory Blade, a sword that is said to be able to cut through any substance. Rumor has it that Eduardo kills five men in single combat every morning to stay sharp, and their blood has so thoroughly soaked into the earth beneath his manor that it occasionally rains down on the Dark Quarter below.
