Alphonse Qarazzo is the only son of the great hero Anthony Qarazzo, and being in his late 90s is the eldest of the current family heads in Corbia. A genius inventor in his own right, who is responsible for many of the city's advances in automation over the past several decades, Alphonse has long chafed at living in his more-famous father's shadow. While the Qarazzo family previously build and operated the city's infrastructure for the benefit of all the people of Corbia, under Alphonse they run it with an iron fist, using their monopoly over the city's sewers, electric grid, and roadways to keep the common people and the other families under their thumb.
Alphonse was always somewhat off, and it has been said that his madness has only overtaken him as his age has progressed. He has always been paranoid that the other families will attempt to take what is his, but lately he has grown more and more suspicious of even his own heirs, and has secluded himself within his labyrinthine manor, relaying his edicts to the rest of his family only through messengers. Some claim that he is dead already, with one heir or another using him as a puppet to secretly run the family, while other gossip states that he is kept alive only by his own machines, frantically trying to keep inventing more and more outlandish contraptions to unnaturally prolong his life.
